Managing payroll can be a daunting task, particularly when shooting abroad and dealing with a whole new set of rules. This seminar outlines the nuts 'n bolts of setting-up your payroll with a U.S. payroll service.  

You will gain an understanding of the rules and requirements involved in hiring and payrolling a U.S. crew including structuring, hiring, and filing requirements, properly completing and calculating timecards, pay deductions, residuals, guild and union contracts, tracking payment of box rentals, per diems, mileage reimbursements, and car allowances.

The seminar will also cover some of the most common payroll practices in the industry that are against state and federal labor laws including:

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
STEVE BIZENOV has more than 20 years experience in the software industry with a strong background in entertainment production and operations management, payroll and accounting. He is vice president of sales and software development at Media Services. He worked in production and operations management at EUE Screen Gems and served in executive positions at various entertainment accounting, payroll, and software companies including FilmPro & Bon Bon Entertainment.
   

BERTHA MARTINEZ is director of residuals at Media Services, where she oversees a department that processes more than 200,000 residuals payments a year for talent on feature and television productions. With more than 16 years in the entertainment industry, she has played a key role in developing Media Services' residuals system as well as Residuals Labor Guide and Showbiz Residuals software. Prior to joining Media Services in 1998, she worked in the residuals department at the Writers Guild of America (WGA), where she was responsible for the verification of studio residuals payments for writers.
